Appeal following fatal collision on A48


Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A48 between Blakeney and Newnham on Severn yesterday.

At approximately 5.30pm there was a collision involving a blue Citroen Berlingo driven by a woman from the Newent area and a pedestrian from the Newnham area.

The pedestrian, a 65-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Southmead Hospital but sadly died in the early hours of this morning. Her next of kin have been informed.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to call 101 or email and quote incident 380 of 6 December.

The female driver of the Berlingo was not injured in the incident.

Collision investigation officers and the ambulance service attended the scene and the road was closed for approximately 5 and a half hours.
