Appeal following homophobic incident in Quedgeley

 

Police in Gloucester are investigating a hate crime where a teenager was assaulted and subjected to homophobic verbal abuse.

The incident happened on Tuesday 5 June at the Kingsway Local Centre between the primary school and Tesco Express in Quedgeley.

At approximately 6.30pm an 18-year-old man was approached by an unknown boy who shouted homophobic slurs at the victim.

The offender, believed to be aged between ten and 13-years-old, then followed the victim and hit him in his face and in the back of the head.

The boy is described as black, was wearing dark coloured jogging bottoms and was in possession of a pushbike.

At the time of the incident he was with another boy who is described as white, around the same age, was wearing grey jogging bottoms and had curly blonde hair.

The victim did not require hospital treatment but suffered redness and soreness to his face and was very upset by the ordeal.

Police are trying to identify the boy responsible and are appealing for any witnesses to call police on 101 and quote incident 441 of 5 June.
