Appeal for help after 79-year-old man robbed in Cheltenham

 

A 79-year-old man was robbed as he was walking home late on Tuesday night, 4 July, and police are appealing for the public’s help to trace the offender.

At about 11.15pm the man, who uses a support walker, was on Prestbury Road, Cheltenham near to the junction with Albert Place, was grabbed from behind by a cyclist who then went through his pockets.

A small, black address book was stolen.

The man suffered grazing to his leg.

The offender is described as a white man with short, dark hair.

PC Ian Miles said: “This was a nasty and cowardly attack on an elderly man who was unable to defend himself, and we are keen to identify whoever was responsible. If you saw anything on Tuesday night, or have any information about who the offender is, please contact us.”
