BID’s Independents Sale is big success – for businesses and customers alike

Cheltenham’s top independent retailers hailed the success of a sale organised by Cheltenham Business Improvement District (BID).

Around 550 shoppers snapped up great bargains at Cheltenham’s Independents Sale at Princess Hall in Cheltenham Ladies College on Sunday (January 28).

Women’s and men’s clothing, shoes, lingerie and jewellery were all on offer.

The businesses who took part were: Beards, Bodega, Boutique 3, James of Montpellier, Keith Scarrott Shoes, Sandra Dee and The Union Project.

Customers were also able to add a little sparkle to their Sunday at The Cotswold Prosecco Company’s tuk tuk.

One of the business owners, Richard Dare, of James of Montpellier, said the event had been a great success for both the retailers and Cheltenham.

“There was a real community feel about the event and we sold even more goods than last year,” he said.

“It helps us to build new relationships with other businesses. Customers who may shop at one or two businesses are introduced, through the sale, to other great local independents with a similar ethos. I’m sure we have attracted new long-term customers because of the event.

“Using Princess Hall at the Ladies College as the venue worked really well. There was a buzz in the build-up to Sunday and this continued at the event.”

BID Director Kevan Blackadder said: “It was great to see so many people leaving with bags full of bargains. The customers clearly enjoyed being at the sale as much as our businesses did.”
