Man arrested in connection with MooMoo stabbing

A man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing at MooMoo nightclub in Cheltenham in September.

The 24-year-old Gloucester man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm yesterday morning and has been bailed to return to police on 8 November, pending further enquiries.

In the incident at the club in the early hours of Sunday 17 September a 36-year-old Gloucester man was stabbed several times in the leg. The victim is now recovering at home.

Officers believe the incident is part of a series linked to a drugs feud that has seen stabbings and violent disorder in Gloucester and Cheltenham.

A further arrest has also been made in connection with a fight in Furlong Road in Gloucester on 30 September.

The 33-year-old Gloucester man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and has been bailed to return to police on 15 November.

The total number of arrests in connection with stabbings in Gloucester Park and St Aldate Street in Gloucester, MooMoo in Cheltenham and disturbances in Calton Road and Furlong Road in Gloucester is now 20.

Detectives and other officers continue to work around the clock to address the dispute and disruption patrols have been ongoing in Gloucester.

Once again, officers are urging anyone with any information about the incidents to report it.

Detective Chief Superintendent Stephen Porter said: “We are doing everything in our power to reduce the risk of harm here but we are also appealing for calm.

“What we want to say to friends and relatives of those involved is please just stop for a moment and think. If your loved one picks up a knife they’re instantly far more likely to become a victim.

“The consequences are devastating to families and communities and we’ve seen it all too often in the recent past. Not just to those directly involved in feuds but innocent bystanders like Dolton Powell.

“Don’t wait for someone to die – call us now on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
