Man jailed following nightclub knife attack

A man has been jailed following a vicious knife attack at the former nightclub Zest in Gloucester in September 2015.

Today, 36-year-old Darren Cohen was jailed for 9 and a half years for section 18 wounding with intent.

The victim suffered serious facial injuries when Cohen lunged at another man in the club, missed his intended target and struck the victim.

DC Dave McCoy said: “We used various tactics to locate Cohen after he went on the run – carrying out numerous warrants and appealing across the media including Crimewatch. As a result of the pressure he handed himself into officers in November last year, and was charged and remanded into custody.

Knife crime is extremely serious and robust action will always be taken when pursuing suspects. The victim will be left with a large scar on his face for the rest of his life now.
