More materials can now be recycled in Cheltenham

From today, Cheltenham residents can recycle a huge variety of materials from their kerbside thanks to a brand new service which has just launched.

More types of plastics, dry and clean textiles, paired shoes, small electricals and household batteries are all included in the scheme to make recycling easier. Residents can also use their new blue reusable bags from today to recycle all types of cardboard.

Councillor Chris Coleman, cabinet member for clean and green environment is pleased the day is finally here, he said: “After a huge amount of work, crews are now ready to go out and deliver this new, improved service. Residents will be aware that they can now recycle many more materials from the kerbside. We want to make recycling as easy as possible and after listening to local people’s views, we are now offering a service which reflects what they want.

“Residents will see the crews out and about in the new bright green Romaquip recycling trucks. These incredibly efficient vehicles enable us to take all the different materials away for recycling and residents are reminded where possible to separate their recyclable items so that they remain high quality. This also ensures that the collection crews are able to minimise the amount of time they spend blocking roads.’’

In some areas there is a collection day change so residents are urged to look at their new calendars or visit our website to confirm the arrangements for their area.
