Police and Crime Panel recruitment

The Gloucestershire Police and Crime Panel is searching for a highly committed and energetic person from Gloucestershire to help oversee and scrutinise the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC).

The police and crime panel is a joint body of the local councils served by the Gloucestershire Constabulary that works to check and balance the performance of the PCC. The commissioner is required to consult with the panel on his plans, the police budget, council tax levels, and the appointment of a chief constable.

This is a challenging but important role. The typical level of commitment required is on average around 1 to 2 days a month. Meetings will generally be held during office hours at Gloucestershire County Council.

The position is voluntary but panel members can claim reasonable travel expenses and will receive an induction and appropriate training.

Cllr Will Windsor Clive, chairman of the Gloucestershire Police and Crime Panel said “The panel is dedicated to helping Gloucestershire be a safe and welcoming county.

“We are looking for someone who is both passionate and dedicated to take on this role. We need someone who will help us support and hold the Police and Crime Commissioner to account.

“This is an important role and finding the right candidate will be challenging but we are fully committed to making sure we get the right person for the job.”

For more information about the role and for a copy of the application pack go to: www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/PoliceandCrimePanel or call: 01452 324204.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on 25th August 2017.
