Stagecoach announces service changes in Cheltenham

Stagecoach has announced timetable changes to improve the punctuality of bus services across Cheltenham and ensure that they are still relevant to meet the changing needs of passengers.

The changes will come into effect across Cheltenham on the 13th August 2017.

Amongst the changes are improvements to Service A between Coronation Square and Prestbury, where extra trips have been added during Monday to Friday peak periods to ensure buses run at least every 10 minutes.

Minor changes have been made to Service B to improve overall punctuality.  Customers catching a bus from the town centre to Charlton Kings will now need to board in North Street.  Customers heading towards Wymans Brook will still find their bus in Pittville Street, but from the stop at the north end.

In response to customer feedback, extra time has been added to peak trips on Service C to ensure that buses still run every 15 minutes.

Services D & E will see extra trips to and from Hatherley and Warden Hill, running every 10 minutes. Buses will pick up on Greatfield Lane and no longer serve stops on Long Mynd Avenue.

The overall frequency of buses between the railway station, town centre, Racecourse P&R and Bishops Cleeve will be reduced to every 10 minutes.  Service D will extend every 20 minutes from Bishop’s Cleeve to Homelands Park.

In response to passenger feedback, Service E will follow a new route in Woodmancote to connect to Bishop’s Cleeve shops, running every 20 minutes.  Extra early morning buses have been added to and from Bishop’s Cleeve on Sundays after requests from customers.

Due to low passenger numbers, Service F will no longer serve GCHQ and Gloucestershire Airport and all journeys will finish at Coronation Square.  Other small timetable changes have also been made to improve punctuality.

To combat worsening traffic congestion, extra buses have been added to Tewkesbury Service 41 to improve punctuality and restore a 20 minute frequency.

Evening journeys on Service 42 have been withdrawn due to low passenger numbers, however hourly evening buses to Tewkesbury will continue to run on Service 41.

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Service 99 will not be operated by Stagecoach after Friday 11th August.  This service has transferred to Pulham’s Coaches with a new route and timetable.

Stagecoach will be running a discount on Cheltenham dayriders during August to help those affected by the upcoming parking changes.

A dayrider will be available for £3 (usually £3.70) to anyone who buys the ticket through the Stagecoach Bus App.
