Travel warning following collisions in the county

Gloucestershire Constabulary is asking the public not to travel unless absolutely necessary after snow has caused disruption on some roads in the county.

We are receiving a high number of calls regarding collisions and vehicles becoming stranded on roads this morning following snowfall across the county.

Please avoid the area of the A417 from Shurdington to the Air Balloon roundabout and from the Air Balloon to the Cowley roundabout. We are working to close these roads as there have been a number of collisions in this area this morning where thankfully no one is believed to have been seriously injured.

At approximately 7.15am there was a collision involving three vehicles and a snow plough on the A417 at Nettleton Bottom. No one was injured in the collision.

If you don’t need to travel today please don’t. Stay at home and enjoy the snow.

If you do have to travel then take appropriate precautions – make sure you have warm clothing, blankets, food, water and ensure you have a charged phone with you.

In the case of an emergency call 999 but if it’s not an emergency please either email us on 101@gloucestershire.police.uk, call 101 or use our website.
