Woman falls on car bonnet after robbery in Cheltenham

A woman was robbed of her handbag in Cheltenham on Monday.

The 57-year-old victim was walking on Upper Bath Street, away from Bath Street, shortly before 3pm when a male on a bike cycled past her from behind and waited in a doorway. As she passed, the male grabbed the bag, causing the woman to fall on to a car bonnet and then the floor.

The man rode away towards Commercial Street with the bag.

Thankfully the victim suffered only minor injuries, although she was very shaken up by the ordeal.

The offender is described as white, 5ft 8ins-5ft 10ins tall, of slim build, wearing a red scarf covering half of his face and a beige jacket.

The victim believes there was a car in the area at the time and officers are eager to speak to the driver, who may have important information.

Anyone who can help should call 101 and quote incident 265 of 15 May.
