20mph speed limits proposed across West Dean

Gloucestershire County Council has launched a public engagement exercise on proposals to reduce speed limits across West Dean.

The plans include introducing 20mph limits on most residential streets in communities including Bream, Parkend, Whitecroft, Pillowell, Berry Hill, Sling and Yorkley Slade.

Some roads approaching villages could also see lower speed limits, although existing limits would remain where considered appropriate.

Between 2021 and 2025, 121 road casualties were recorded across West Dean, with 31 per cent involving people killed or seriously injured.

Residents can comment online until 13 December, with a public drop-in event at the West Dean Centre in Bream on 18 November.

If supported and subsequently approved, changes could be introduced in mid-2027.
