Appeal after 74-year-old woman robbed in Hucclecote

 

Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a handbag on Wednesday.

The incident happened at 4.40am on the Hucclecote Road, Gloucester, opposite the Royal Oak pub.

A 74 year old woman was walking to work when a dark coloured car pulled up alongside her and a person from inside the vehicle grabbed her handbag and snatched it off her arm.

The offenders rifled through the handbag, took the purse and threw the handbag back at the woman. The purse contained cash and a bank card.

The offenders drove off in the direction of Brockworth and later an attempt was made to use the victim’s bank card at the Co-op in Tredworth High Street, Gloucester.

Police would like your help to identify the man and woman in the CCTV images.

The woman was uninjured but very upset by the incident and an ambulance was called.

The offender who snatched the bag is white, with brown hair and a thin face. He spoke with a Birmingham accent. The car was a large, black vehicle and the exhaust was very noisy and rattling.
