Appeal for witnesses following assault in Cheltenham


Officers are appealing for witnesses to an assault which happened in Cheltenham in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Between 4.15am and 4.50am a 23-year-old man was assaulted in the area of Imperial Square/The Promenade. The victim suffered facial injuries and an injury to his ear during the incident which required surgery.

Gloucestershire Constabulary is appealing for anyone who saw or assisted the victim after the assault to contact police. The victim was discovered by a member of the public on a bench near The Neptune Fountain on The Promenade.

A 27-year-old man from Cheltenham was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released under investigation.
