Appeal for witnesses to suspected arson in Cheltenham

Police are appealing for witnesses to a suspected arson which took place in an alleyway off Bath Road in Cheltenham last weekend.

Officers were called by the Fire Service at around 10.15pm on Saturday after an unknown offender started a fire at a block of flats within the Bath Street alleyway.

It’s thought the communal door was insecure and that this is how entry to the building was gained.

A lighter and a partly used bottle of accelerant were found nearby and this may have been used to start the fire.

Fortunately the fire was contained to the communal entrance hall and no-one was injured.

If you were in the area at the time or have any information that may help with police investigations please call 101 quoting incident 530 of 30 June.
