Charity plans to sell alcohol and play music at weekends

Gloucester charity The Music Works wants permission to sell alcohol and play music at weekends.

The charity, which aims to transform the lives of young people through music, has applied to Gloucester City Council for a premises licence for its St Aldate Street venue.

The proposals include being able to sell alcohol and play live or recorded music from 7pm to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays

The charity says they are specialists in working with young people in challenging circumstances to help them reach their full potential in music, learning and in life.

It regularly works with 2,500 young people aged between eight and 30 and a further 2,000 through events.

In 2019, it won the Association of Youth Offending’s Award for best delivery programme in the UK and became a PRS Talent Development Partner. And in 2021, it received a Queen’s Award for enterprise for social mobility.

Anyone wishing to make representations concerning The Music Works’ licensing plans must give notice in writing or by email to Gloucester City Council by May 11, 2022.
