The Gloucestershire Police and Crime Panel is looking for a committed and energetic person from Gloucestershire to help oversee and scrutinise the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
The Police and Crime Panel is a joint body of the local authorities served by Gloucestershire Constabulary and maintains a regular check and balance on the performance of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC).
The panel is under a duty to support, ambulance as well as challenge the commissioner.
An opportunity has arisen for a person who lives in Gloucestershire to join the panel to help oversee and scrutinise the work of the PCC.
The commissioner will be required to consult with the panel on his plans and budget for policing, there as well as the level of council tax and the appointment of a chief constable.
The role of a panel member is an important and challenging one. The typical commitment required from a member is on average up to one or two days a month, prostate including preparation time.
Meetings will generally be held during office hours at Gloucestershire County Council. The position is voluntary, but all members will be able to claim reasonable travelling expenses and receive an induction and other appropriate training.
