With final preparations underway, the countdown is on for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice’s popular Spring Fayre on Saturday 23 March. This much-anticipated annual event not only promises to be a great day out for all the family, but also serves as a crucial fundraiser for the hospice’s palliative care work for the local community.
The Spring Fayre, hosted in the picturesque grounds of Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice near Cheltenham, will feature a variety of fun-filled attractions and activities for children and adults alike. Attendees can look forward to a special performance by local children’s entertainer Music Man, a kid’s area featuring a bouncy castle and an array of food and drink options.
Local Estate Agents Perry Bishop, devoted supporters of the hospice, are sponsoring the event for another year – and will be hosting their own collection of activities on the grounds. Residents and visitors can test their skills at the coconut shy or participate in the “guess the house price” competition, with the chance to win a delightful hamper filled with items generously provided by local traders of The Bath Road.
A diverse range of entertainment awaits visitors on the day, with mini steam engine rides, live music from Gloucester Strings and The Metz Big Band, archery, family-friendly games, princess makeovers, face painting, a climbing wall, and a visit from the local Fire Service with a fire engine. The Gloucestershire Troopers, dressed in ultra-realistic Storm Trooper outfits, will be roaming the grounds, taking selfies, and collecting donations for the hospice.
The expanded market stall area this year will feature watercolour pet portraits, hair accessories, ceramics, and home décor, in addition to stalls from regular supporters like Pots of Love, the Sewing Group, and a cake stall. The Sue Ryder bookshop and a bric-a-brac stall will also be on site, for attendees to pick up a souvenir or two.
Gavin Wallace, Residential Director at Perry Bishop, commented, “We are really looking forward to supporting Sue Ryder again this year and, in addition to being the main sponsors of the event, our team will also be running two different stalls.”
“Last year we ran a ‘guess the house price’ competition, which was a huge success, so we have decided to do another one this year. Our second stall will be a traditional coconut shy – like any traditional shy, the aim is to knock over the coconut, but instead of taking home just the coconut, each person who successfully knocks over a coconut will be put in a hat, and later in the day one lucky person will be drawn out to win a £50 John Lewis voucher. Children taking part will be able to bag themselves some tasty sweets!”
Alysia Cameron-Price, Community Fundraising Manager at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice commented “As the Spring Fayre fast approaches, we’re getting more and more excited for a day of family fun – all for a fantastic cause – and so we hope as many people as possible can join us. All funds raised on the day will allow us to continue our vital care in the Gloucestershire community.”
Entry to the Spring Fayre is £2.50 per person, and children under 12 enjoy free admission. All proceeds from the event will directly support Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice in its mission to be there when it matters most.
