Dashcam appeal after concerning incident on A38 Tewkesbury Bypass today

Police are investigating a suspicious incident on the A38 Tewkebury Bypass on Friday.

Two teenage girls who had been walking along the stretch of road between Morrisons and the the Wheatpieces roundabout reported seeing something concerning inside a vehicle which was being driven from the direction of Ashchurch Road and towards the roundabout.

They described seeing a silver vehicle at around 3.30pm which had three children in the back, two young boys and an older girl, and two people in the front.

The vehicle was being driven slowly due to traffic, and a man then got out of the front passenger seat and ran towards Wigeon Lane alley while shouting and appearing panicked. He was described as being white and of a tall, thin build.

When the girls looked at the vehicle they had concerns for the safety of one of the children inside the car, the older girl, and so they then called a family member and reported the incident to police. The driver then continued to drive away.

DS Sophie Dawkins said: “Since the report was made numerous enquiries have been taking place to identify the vehicle, and we’re now asking for anyone who may have information or footage which could assist us to come forward.

“We’re particularly keen to hear from any motorists or pedestrians who were in the area between around 3.20pm and 3.40pm today (Friday 22 March).

“Likewise, if someone reads the description of the vehicle, people inside or circumstances of the incident and believes it may have been them involved, we would like to talk to them.

“With what has been reported to us by the girls we’re concerned for the safety of the child who was inside the car, and we want to ensure she is ok.”

Anyone with information is asked to provide this to police by calling 101 and quoting incident 355 of 22 March.
