Some 238 new homes near Tewkesbury are a step closer to being built as planners have approved their design details.
The layout, scale, appearance and landscaping details for Bloor Homes’ plans for land south east of Bluebell Road in Wheatpieces have been approved by Tewkesbury Borough Council.
Councillors approved outline plans for the site along with a community sports pavilion and outdoor sports pitches in February 2024.
And the planning committee yesterday (July 16) approved a reserved matters application for the 33.8-acre site.
The scheme will deliver 143 open market dwellings and 95 affordable homes. Some 57 of these would be social rented and 38 shared ownership which equates to 40 per cent of the total number of properties.
The outline planning permission on the wider application site included the provision of a new community sports pavilion and outdoor sports pitches.
And the agreed planning obligation attached to the proposals requires that the freehold interest of these facilities be offered to Tewkesbury Football Club.
In the event the club does not accept the offer the facilities be offered to the Borough Council or its nominee.Work on the pavilion and playing fields must start before the occupation of the 25th home on the site and must be completed before the 100th house is occupied
The proposals provide a circa 545 sq m single storey sports pavilion with a community hall, four changing rooms, toilets and a kitchen area and would have 45 car parking spaces.
The playing pitches are shown in a configuration which would provide four pitches being two under eights 5v5, one for under 10s and another for under 14s 11v11 grass football pitch. The size of the playing pitch area also provides a flexible arrangement to provide a full size pitch if required.
Officers recommended approving the scheme which they deemed to be acceptable in terms of access, layout, scale, appearance and landscaping. And the committee voted to approve the proposals.
