Young people out of work and education have a chance to develop professional digital skills at Gloucestershire libraries.
The Space to Create boot camps allows people to develop skills that real professionals use in their own careers.
The workshops are hosted in the labs at the county’s libraries and are run by industry professionals with support from the lab technicians.
The goal is to help a group create something of their own and pick up the skills to take things further.
Ideally, they’d like to show people that the skills can be learned, practised, and can be the foundation of a solid business with the right support.
The next boot camp will be on Monday, September 2, at the Gloucester Lab, and runs until mid October.
Stephen Berry, innovation lab technician in Gloucester, said: “It’s an in-depth course on Stop Motion animation run by SAND Visuals, with the Lab providing access to workspace and equipment between the sessions so that attendees can develop their projects.
“We’ve worked with SAND Visuals before with fantastic results, so I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with this one.”
There will also be WordPress web design workshop at Stroud Library from September 4 to October 18. And there are plans for sound engineering workshops in Coleford in November and December.
