Stroud District Council has introduced a discounted bulky waste collection service for eligible residents.
Households receiving Council Tax Support or Housing Benefit can now arrange collection of up to three large items for £5, compared to the standard £25 charge.
The scheme is designed to make it easier for people to dispose of items like furniture, mattresses and white goods responsibly.
Council leaders say it will also help reduce fly-tipping and prevent unwanted items from being left in public spaces.
Residents can book collections online or by phone, using their benefit claim reference to access the reduced rate.
The council is also encouraging people to consider repairing or donating items where possible, with local groups such as The Home Remedy Stroud offering reuse options.
