Police are continuing to disrupt anti-social behaviour in Gloucester city centre and have put a further dispersal order in place.
The Section 34 order began at 8pm yesterday (Monday 24 August) and runs until 8pm tomorrow (Wednesday 26 August).
It covers part of the city centre including Black Dog Way/Gouda Way to the North, Trier Way to the East, Llanthony Road/Castle Meads Way to the West and St Ann Way/Trier Way to the South.
It was authorised following multiple reports of a number of individuals causing harassment, alarm and distress to members of the public and business owners in the city centre.
Under the order, officers can direct anyone whose behaviour is likely to result in members of the public being harassed, alarmed or distressed, to leave the area and not return until the order expires.
Earlier this afternoon (25 August), officers arrested a woman for breaching the Dispersal Order. She remains in police custody at this time.
Acting Inspector Gareth Gladwin from the Local Policing Team said: “We are taking further action to curb the behaviour of certain individuals in the city and to help keep people safe.
“In conjunction with this Dispersal Order, our Neighbourhood Policing team conducted an operation yesterday (24 August) aimed at making the city centre safer by tackling anti-social behaviour, shoplifting and illegal electric vehicles.
“Officers patrolling the city centre broke up a large fight and dispersed those involved, removed alcohol from 11 individuals within in the town centre and three people were arrested for shoplifting. Today we have arrested a woman for breaching the Dispersal Order.
“We hope that this action shows that we will not tolerate any behaviour which makes people feel scared and intimidated in the city and makes Gloucester a more safe and pleasant place to be.”
