Gloucester BID has launched a new Welcome to Gloucester Ambassadors programme, designed to enhance the visitor experience and strengthen the city’s reputation as a friendly and vibrant destination.
Delivered in partnership with local organisations, the initiative will see trained volunteers stationed at key locations across the city centre. Their role will be to greet visitors, offer directions, and promote Gloucester’s attractions, independent businesses and major events.
The ambassadors will be active during peak periods and at large-scale events, helping to showcase everything the historic city has to offer — from its rich heritage and cultural attractions to its bustling retail and hospitality scene.
Open to volunteers aged 18 and over, the programme provides full training, ongoing support and an official uniform. Participants are asked to commit a minimum of four hours per month, offering flexibility while ensuring a consistent presence in the city centre.
Organisers say the initiative builds on Gloucester’s strong community spirit, creating a welcoming and professional first point of contact for visitors while encouraging local pride and engagement.
