Gloucester City Council and Gloucestershire County Council are helping to support community groups and youth organisations put on events throughout Gloucester’s BiG year.
‘BiG’ stands for ‘Believe in Gloucester’, cialis a campaign which celebrates all that is great about Gloucester, its people and places, its past and its present.
In this special year for the city, locally run community groups or youth organisations are invited to apply for funding to help put on their events.
Scout groups, girl guides, fitness clubs and dance groups are just some of the local organisations who can benefit from a grant ranging from £250 to £1000.
Groups are encouraged to apply for a grant if they are putting on summer activities or local festivals, particularly if they are in celebration of the Gloucester being a Host City of the Rugby World Cup 2015.
Applications are also being welcomed from groups holding activities in the city centre, King’s Square and at Orchard Square in the docks where celebrations will be taking place as part of the Festival of Rugby.
The Festival of Rugby 2015 groups together rugby themed events taking place across the UK between 10th June and 31st October, as the nation prepares to celebrate what will be a massive year for the game.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 12th June.
Cllr Jennie Dallimore, deputy leader and cabinet member for communities and neighbourhoods said: “This is Gloucester’s BiG year and we’d love to see more rugby related activities taking place; that’s why we’re encouraging groups to be part of ‘Festival of Rugby’. The grants can be used to purchase equipment or materials needed to put on your event.”
There will be a wide range of events taking place as part of the Festival of Rugby 2015 and as long as a group can incorporate a rugby element or theme into their event, be it through food, culture, décor or hosting the event at your local rugby club, they can be part of the programme.
Groups who register their local community event via www.festivalofrugby.com can benefit from having their event listed on the website to help aid publicity and to use the branding on their event material.
