If you play an instrument and fancy making music with others as part of a band or orchestra come along and meet Gloucestershire Music.
Gloucestershire Music’s weekly music groups and centre’s will be opening their doors from Monday 5 October to Saturday 10th October to anyone who’s interested in seeing what they do, cialis or perhaps joining one of the groups in Gloucester, see the Forest of Dean or Stroud.
There are groups for young people at all stages of learning music, from beginners to more advanced players, and groups for adults too.
Beginners and intermediate young musicians are invited to come along on Saturday 10th October to a range of venues for a range of instruments.
Venues for these classes are; the Brookfield Music Centre, Gloucester (Sir Thomas Riches School, 9.20am-12.30pm), Five Valleys Music Centre, Stroud (Archway School, 9.30am-12.30pm),Forest of Dean Wind Band Music Centre, Coleford (Lakers School, 10am-1pm).
Intermediate young jazz players (grade 4) will find a thriving bunch of dedicated young jazz stars at Jazz Live in Cheltenham on Wednesday 7th October 5.30 – 9pm at Bournside School, Cheltenham.
For the more advanced young players, they can visit one of the award-winning County Youth Music Groups, including:
- Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra (Thursday 8 October 6.30 – 9pm at St. Peters High School, Gloucester)
- Gloucestershire Youth Wind Orchestra (Thursday 8 October 6.45 – 9pm) at St. Peters High School, Gloucester)
- Gloucestershire Youth Sinfonia (Tuesday 6 October 7-9pm at the Colwell Arts Centre, Gloucester).
There are several groups for adults to participate at as well, with groups available for different levels of experience, and venues are:
- Jazz2Go and the Colwell Arts Jazz Ensemble ( Weds 7 October at 7-9pm at Bournside School, Cheltenham)
- Colwell Arts Orchestra (Wednesday 7 October (7-9pm) at the Colwell Arts Centre, grade 4+)
- Lakeside Concert Band (Thurs 8th October 7-9pm Lakeside School – adult wind, brass and percussion players grades 1-4)
- Five Valleys Adult Wind Band (Saturday 10th October, Archway School 9.30am – 11.30am adults grades 3 – 6)
- Gloucestershire Symphonic Wind Orchestra (Monday 5th October, Monday, 7.00pm – 9.00pm in Gloucester at the Colwell Arts Centre, advanced adult wind, brass and percussionists only with a minimum grade 7).
Cllr Paul McLain, Cabinet member for children and young people and commissioning said: “Learning and more importantly, enjoying playing a musical instrument as part of a group is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who would like to learn a new skill, socialise or simply find a creative outlet.”
“There are several groups available at different levels, so it does not matter if you’ve never picked up an instrument before, as long as you are keen to learn there will be a group for you.”
