A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle after an off-duty police officer spotted a suspected stolen car in Gloucester on Monday night (1 December).
The officer was driving through Tuffley at around 9.30pm when he noticed a vehicle which had two blown out tyres and no number plates.
He saw two males leave the car and he detained one of them, who was found to be in possession of the car key, part of the number plate and a quantity of Class B drugs.
A vehicle check revealed the car had previously been reported as stolen following a burglary in Matson last month (November).
Following the arrival of on-duty police colleagues, a 21-year-old from Gloucester was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of class B drugs. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
Officers conducted searches for the second man with support from the Dog Unit, however he was not located.
