MP hosts “Power of Speech” for deaf children in Parliament

2016-06-08 - Auditory Verbal UK - Neil Carmichael MP

Stroud MP, seek Neil Carmichael, health hosted the “Power of Speech” event in Parliament today by the charity Auditory Verbal UK.

The event has been organised by the charity to raise awareness with MPs about the importance of the work by Auditory Verbal UK in helping young deaf children and their families tackle the challenges of hearing loss so that they can have the same opportunities in life as their hearing peers.  At the event deaf children will speak to show what they have achieved with the right help and support.

Neil Carmichael said: “When I visited Auditory Verbal last year I learnt more about their programme and saw first hand the significant impact of their work with young deaf children.  As Vice Chair of the All Party Group on Deafness I passionately believe there is absolutely no reason why deaf children should not fulfil their potential and achieve just as much as their hearing peers – this charity has a very clear mission and plan to achieve that.”
