The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust has launched a new eDrone racing competition for young people.
Called “Race to RIAT”, the contest is open to school pupils and RAF Air Cadets aged 14 to 16.
It is being run in partnership with the British Esports Federation and DXC Technology.
Participants will compete over six weeks using simulator software, with the fastest progressing to a live final at the Royal International Air Tattoo.
Organisers say the competition aims to build skills in science, technology, engineering and maths.
They add it will also encourage interest in aviation and future careers in the sector.
The final will take place this summer, showcasing the top young drone racers from across the country.
