Gloucestershire VCS Alliance and Unitemps has announced a new partnership which aims to connect students and recent graduates with a wide range of job opportunities within local charities and community groups in the county.
This new partnership was established in response to ongoing research undertaken by Gloucestershire VCS Alliance into the recruitment challenges faced by the charitable sector in the county.
In 2023, Gloucestershire VCS Alliance published their annual ‘State of the Sector Report’ which highlighted an increase in staff vacancies within the sector and feedback from local groups and organisations citing staffing as being a ‘significant’ concern.
Gloucestershire VCS Alliance has developed a range of support for local charities and community groups over the last few years, including a free job advertisement service and fully funded training.
The new partnership with Unitemps, the University of Gloucestershire’s recruitment service, is therefore a tremendous opportunity to link local groups and organisations with the creative thinking and fresh perspectives of the University’s students and graduates.
Matt Lennard, Chief Executive Officer of Gloucestershire VCS Alliance said: “This represents a great opportunity for our sector to bring in fantastic people into their organisations on a flexible and affordable basis.
Additionally, it can help develop future leaders by introducing new people into the sector. Many university leavers will not consider charities and community organisations as a career choice; this gives them exposure to the essential, rewarding work we do.”
