Police are appealing for information following a spate of burglaries across Cheltenham earlier this month.
Officers received reports of two break-ins on the same street in Shurdington and two more in Up Hatherley on Saturday, 4 October. A further burglary took place in Up Hatherley on Monday, 13 October, during which a laptop and bag were stolen overnight.
Two additional burglaries were reported in Leckhampton on Tuesday, 14 October, where offenders stole silverware and credit cards from one of the properties.
Detectives believe the incidents are linked due to similarities in how entry was gained. CCTV footage has been reviewed and house-to-house enquiries carried out, but officers are urging anyone with information, or with relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage, to come forward.
Information can be submitted online via gloucestershire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/ quoting incident 462 of 4 October.
Police are also reminding residents to remain vigilant and take precautions as the evenings draw in.
Homeowners are encouraged to use the ‘WIDE’ combination of security measures:
-
Window locks
-
Indoor lights on timers
-
Double door locks or deadbolts
-
External lights on sensors
Officers also advise residents to store car keys in signal-blocking pouches, keep valuables out of sight, and ensure gates and outbuildings are secure.
