A custody extension has been granted by a superintendent for a man arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday.
Emergency services were called at around 7.40am yesterday following reports a number of people had been stabbed at an address on Bedford Street in Gloucester.
Three men were taken to hospital to be treated for injuries.
One of them, a man in his 50s and from Gloucester, died from his injuries at around midday. The other two men are now recovering.
A forensic post mortem is due to take place today while officers remain at the address. Bedford Street remains closed while investigations continue.
The suspect, a man aged in his 30s, was arrested by armed officers at around 8.10am on Chequer’s Road and taken to hospital for treatment. He was subsequently discharged and transferred to police custody.
Detectives have now been given until tomorrow morning (Friday 30 May) to continue questioning him in connection with the incident.
The Major Crime Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are asking anyone with information which could assist to make contact.
