Officers in Wotton Under Edge are urging owners of work vans to be vigilant after three thefts earlier this week.
The first incident happened at Chestnut Park in Kingswood between 7pm on Monday 11 April and 7am on Tuesday 12 April. A van was forced open and power tools stolen from the rear and a credit stolen from the front.
Another theft occurred between 6pm on Monday 11 April and 7.30am on Tuesday 12 April on Somerset Close in Kingswood. Power tools were stolen from a van which was locked and secured.
More power tools were stolen from a van on Haw Street between 10pm on Monday 11 April and 10.30am on Tuesday 12 April. A dash cam was also stolen as well as the glove box being searched.
Van owners are urged to take precautions to ensure they do not fall victim to theft. Remove valuables from the vehicle overnight and display a sign on the van stating this. Park your van in a well-lit area overnight and in sight of CCTV. If you use a satnav, order always remove it from the windscreen when your car is locked and unattended and wipe away tell-tale suction marks. Write your home postcode on it with an ultraviolet marker pen for easier identification if it gets stolen.
Anyone with information on these thefts is asked to call police on 101 quoting incidents 46, help 48 and 125 of Tuesday 12 April. Anyone who sees suspicious activity or suspects somebody of attempting to steal from a vehicle is also urged to call 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress.
