UPDATE:
Police can confirm that the incident at Merrywalks in Stroud earlier this morning (Wednesday 2 July) has now been safely resolved.
Police are currently at the scene of a second concern for welfare incident on the viaduct in Stroud this morning (Wednesday 2 July).
Emergency services were called at around 12.45am today that a woman was on the viaduct at Merrywalks.
Officers from Gloucestershire Constabulary and British Transport Police are currently at the scene.
While trained negotiators are attempting to resolve the situation safely, the A46 at Merrywalks is closed in both directions and motorists have been advised to find alternative routes. All trains to and from Stroud have also been temporarily stopped.
Police would like to thank people for their patience during this second incident, following a similar event yesterday involving a man.
