Seven Scissors hairdressing salon is offering a limited number of free haircuts and styling to all those wanting to donate their hair to the Little Princess Trust to be made into wigs for boys and girls undergoing chemotherapy.
This weekend, prostate on Saturday 26th September between 4pm and 6pm Seven Scissors, here within the Eastgate Shopping Centre, drug is offering a number of free haircuts and styling for those who agree to have their hair donated to the Little Princess Trust.
The Trust was set up in 2006 by Wendy and Simon Tarplee after their daughter lost her battle with a Wilms tumour in 2005. The family, from Tewkesbury, struggled during Hannah’s illness to find her a high quality wig, and when they did manage to find one it was clear that Hannah enjoyed wearing it. The Trust has gone on to help thousands of boys and girls by providing beautiful, real hair wigs since its launch. Even celebrities such as Jessie J have got behind the cause and donated hair to be made into wigs.
Seven Scissors will be providing free afternoon tea and cakes to those who pop into the salon on the Saturday, with 38 year old Katie Humphreys from Quedgeley, who has been growing her hair since 2008, the first local resident in line to donate her locks.
Everyone is welcome to pop along, take part in a variety of activities, enjoy some tea and cakes, and witness Katie and others having their hair chopped for a good cause.
Tiago Prino, Artistic Director of Seven Scissors, commented: “Thinking about having hair on your head whilst undergoing treatment at such a traumatic time seems trivial to healthy people, but it can make a huge difference in giving youngsters the dignity they deserve. It gives them confidence to deal with the very tough situation they find themselves in. The work done by the Little Princess Trust is fantastic and we are delighted to play a small part in their efforts to give the youngsters some resemblance of normal life during these difficult times.”
Jason Robinson, Centre Manager of the Eastgate Shopping Centre, commented: “This is an incredibly fantastic cause to get behind and we’re hoping that most of those who will be in the Centre on the day will pop along and take a look – whether they choose to donate some of their hair or not. As a parent myself, I can’t begin to imagine what families go through when they find out their child has cancer, but we can all make that process a little easier for the child and their family by digging deep and either donating some money or even donating a little bit of hair.”
