Wales & West Utilities is starting work to upgrade gas pipes in the Bath Road area of Stroud.
Rolling road closures will be in place on Bath Road between 6 July and 28 August.
Access will be maintained for residents, but motorists are being advised to allow extra time for journeys.
The work forms part of a wider £7.5 million investment programme to upgrade more than 26 kilometres of gas pipes across Gloucestershire.
Wales & West Utilities says the project is needed to keep the gas network safe, reliable and ready to carry greener gases in future.
