Pittville Park’s new play area is set to be completed in one phase thanks to council funding and also fundraising, no rx crowdfunding, grants and donations coordinated in partnership with the Friends of Pittville. The team would like to thank all those that have contributed, in whatever way, into helping create an exceptional play area.
Friends of Pittville’s fundraising campaign
Friends of Pittville have worked tirelessly to raise the funds to support the play area. They have raised a staggering £90,000 for the scheme, from the crowdfunding campaign, JustGiving, My donate and two successful grant applications from Active Together, £54,000 and Gloucestershire Environmental Trust, £25,000.
Cllr Chris Coleman, cabinet member for clean and green environment, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Friends of Pittville for all their support with this project. I would also like to thank all those individuals and businesses that have pledged their support – it really is a tremendous effort.
“I am absolutely delighted that through the financial commitments made by the Council, fundraising and grants, we are now in a position to deliver our vision of creating an outstanding area for active and creative play for children of all ages and abilities to enjoy.”
Judie Hodsdon, Chairman of Friends of Pittville, said she was delighted that the group’s involvement in raising funds had been so successful.
“We set out to do our best and were able to engage not just with our members but many other individuals, groups, businesses and grant-giving organisations to reach our target. We’re very pleased that the new play area, aviaries and small animal housing will now all be completed on schedule.”
Pledgers who donated to the crowdfunding campaign can look forward to receiving their ‘rewards’. From a personal thank you from Friends of Pittville, a letter from the Mayor, an invitation to the opening ceremony, their name on the council’s website, or even their name on a donors’ board or on one of the main items of play equipment, there are many ways in which donors will be thanked for supporting the new play area.
