Witness appeal following assault in Cheltenham

Police in Cheltenham are investigating a robbery in which a 23-year-old woman was assaulted and had her handbag stolen.

The incident happened in London Road between 1.10am and 1.30am on Monday, 30 July.

The offender was walking on the right hand side of the road between Sandford Ale House and Keynshambury Road, parallel to the woman who was walking on the other side of the road.

He crossed over towards the junction of Sydenham Villas Road where he waited for the woman, pushed and punched her before making off with her handbag.

He crossed back over London Road and continued towards the town centre, possibly running down Corpus Street.

The woman sustained minor facial injuries.

House to house enquiries have been conducted and now officers are appealing specifically for anyone who saw the man walking away from the town centre before the incident happened.

He is described as a white man, about 5ft 8ins tall, with short (possibly shaved) hair and a defined jawline.

He was wearing jeans and a long sleeved, red and white check shirt, both of which looked too big for him.

Anyone with information is asked to call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 quoting incident 21 of 30 July.
