Your chance to help the council serve up community meals

Gloucestershire County Council is seeking the public’s views to help influence how the current community meals service can be improved.

Community Meals, click or ‘Meals on Wheels’, deliver hot meals to the homes of vulnerable people, helping them to live as independently as possible.

The current contract is up for renewal from April 2016 and a public consultation has been launched to get customer feedback about the service as it stands.

The county council would like to hear from a wide range of Gloucestershire residents, including people who are currently receiving a community meal, people caring for someone receiving a community meal or people who may want support to maintain their nutritional wellbeing in the future.

The feedback will help the council get a better understanding of what is already being provided within the community, meal preferences, knowledge of meal providers and how the most vulnerable people are being, or would like to be supported.

Although not everyone is eligible for a subsidised meal, the council are keen to ensure that all residents are aware of and have access to the wide range of services available.

Councillor Dorcas Binns, Cabinet Member for Older People, said; “We want to make sure that vulnerable adults in the county can get access to healthy and delicious meals when they need them.

By taking part in this consultation, and offering us your views and opinions, you can make sure to influence the way our community meals service operates and help us to better understand how the support we provide helps people to live independently.

I would encourage as many of our customers as possible to fill in the surveys we have sent out, do it online or talk to your current care worker about how to take part.”

The consultation will run until Tuesday 30th June 2015 and is available here: https://gloucestershire-consult.objective.co.uk/portal/socialcare/communitymeals/communitymeals
