Venues across the city are getting into the highland fling of things for another rugby-filled weekend of activities.
Gloucester gears up for another weekend of rugby-inspired fun. It kicks off this afternoon as Argentina take on Georgia for a match here in Kingsholm.
Missed out on tickets for this game? Fans can head into any number of venues across the city to soak up the atmosphere and watch the action on a big screen with fellow supporters. Bars, treat pubs and restaurants all over Gloucester are getting involved to welcome visitors and locals alike during this tremendous tournament. The Fanzone will also be open with its replica pitch and posts, big screens and big entertainment.
With six rugby matches screened across the weekend, there’s plenty of World Cup action to whet the appetite, but if the rugby gets too much, there is all sorts of World Cup inspired things to do across the city.
Cllr Paul James, leader of Gloucester City Council, said, “The whole city has come alive for this fabulous event. It’s magnificent to see so much going on for this, Our Big Year here in Gloucester.
Rugby fan or not, there’s something for everyone to enjoy whatever age.”
To tie in with the Where’s Scrumpty Trail weaving all over the city, Gloucester City and Folk Museums will host its own mini trail. Hawk-eyed hunters big and small can search out a number of mini Scrumpties hiding around both museums to win a special rugby-inspired prize.
While there, visitors can be wowed by the WOW! Rugby exhibition at Gloucester City Museum featuring world-class objects, portraits, hands-on interactive activities, and lots more to celebrate all things rugby here in Gloucester and all over the world.
Branded ‘bagrock’ the Scottish bagpipe band, Red Hot Chilli Pipers, will be blasting unique blend of traditional bagpipe music and rock anthems at King’s Square on Sunday 27 September 2015. Completely free of charge, this a Scottish spectacle not to be missed.
