Police have put a dispersal order in place for the Abbeymead area of Gloucester following further reports of anti-social behaviour by teenagers at the weekend.
The Section 34 order began at midday yesterday (Sunday 29 March) and runs until midday tomorrow (Tuesday 31 March).
It follows reports of an increased number of incidents involving large groups of youths in the area.
The order allows officers to direct any groups of two or more to leave the area for up to 48 hours, if it is believed that the behaviour of the group is likely to result in members of the public being harassed, alarmed or distressed.
Anyone who has been directed to leave the designated area by an officer and who returns within that time frame, can be arrested.
Additional patrols have been put in place in Abbeymead following previous incidents of anti-social behaviour.
A number of youths have already been identified and police are now engaging with them and their carers.
Inspector James O’Neill from the Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “It is disappointing that we are continuing to see anti-social behaviour in Abbeymead, despite our previous warnings.
“We will not tolerate anyone who believes they can act above the law and have taken swift action to curb this irresponsible behaviour.”
Anyone who is experiencing anti-social behaviour can call police on 101 to report it. If you can see a crime taking place and offenders are present or nearby, call police on 999.
