A woman sustained a fractured jaw after a man punched her in the face in Gloucester last month and police are appealing for witnesses.
Investigating officers want to speak to two other people who were in the area at the time and may have witnessed what happened.
A man assaulted a woman, aged in her 30s, near a bus stop on Robert Raikes Avenue at around 6.40pm on Tuesday 25 August.
It is understood that he also damaged her phone while they were travelling on the number 9 Stagecoach bus from Gloucester to Tuffley at around 6.30pm, shortly before the assault.
From reviewing CCTV in the area, officers have established there were people walking past the bus stop who may have seen the assault and investigating officers are keen to speak with them.
The potential witnesses have been described as a woman who is white, with brown hair, who was wearing glasses, a blue short sleeved top, grey cargo style trousers and black trainers.
The other potential witness was described as a woman who is black, had her hair in a bun, was wearing a black dress, blue denim jacket and black sandals. She was with a child who appeared to be around 12 years old.
From the footage, it can be seen how the woman stopped with the child between the man and woman and appeared to be looking towards the victim.
Police took the victim to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and she required surgery for her fractured jaw.
Following further enquiries, a 41-year-old man from Gloucester was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage.
He was released on bail with conditions while further enquiries take place.
It is understood that those involved in the incident are known to each other.
Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who was travelling on the number 9 bus that evening and saw an incident involving a man and woman.
