A new competition has gone live in Gloucester which aims to boost local businesses, with £2,000 in Town & City Gift Cards to be won, such as the Gloucester Gift Card.
Backed by Gloucester BID, people can nominate their favourite local business in the competition, free by giving the name of the local business they think deserves to win and a reason. Shops, restaurants, salons, hotels, attractions and services are all eligible to be the UK’s Favourite Local Business 2026.
The UK’s Favourite Local Business which receives the most nominations in the competition will win a £1,000 Town & City Gift Card, such as the Gloucester Gift Card, with one person who nominated the winner receiving a £1,000 Town & City Gift Card.
Gloucester BID is also offering a £500 Gloucester Gift Card to the city business with the most nominations in the competition. If this is also the business which wins UK’s Favourite Local Business overall, the £500 Gloucester Gift Card prize will go to the Gloucester business with the second highest number of nominations in the competition.
The Gloucester Gift Card was introduced by Gloucester BID in November 2019 as a way to encourage local shopping and keep spend locked into the area. Over 180 businesses in Gloucester accept the card, including businesses at Gloucester Quays, Gloucester Food Dock, and both big brands and independent businesses.

The Gloucester Gift Card is part of the multi-award winning Town & City Gift Cards concept from fintech Miconex. Over 27,000 local businesses are part of Miconex’s local gift card programs around the world with over £69m of cards sold to date.
