An £8500 project to enhance facilities at Taynton and Tibberton Village Hall and enable the local tennis club to grow and flourish has been completed.
The project was made possible following a grant from Enovert Community Trust, provided through the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF). The grant was used to develop the outside storeroom at the village hall into a toilet facility, which can be accessed all the time by the tennis club, even when the hall is closed or being used for other events.
To date the tennis club has been able to use the hall facilities on its social tennis mornings, but the new toilet and washroom will now be able to be used by tennis club members throughout the day, which it is hoped will help attract more families with young children to join.
Hylary Kingham, Treasurer and Trustee of the Taynton and Tibberton Village Hall and Recreation Ground Charity, said: “The tennis club is thriving, offering coaching sessions to children and adults. The new facilities will enable club members to play for longer and hopefully will mean that more local families will want to join the club.
“We are all very grateful to the Trustees of Enovert Community Trust for the grant, which will have a very positive impact on our community.”
The village hall is used by a wide range of organisations, and the new toilet facilities will also be used by the Highnam football teams that use the grounds.
Angela Haymonds, Trust Manager of Enovert Community Trust, said: “Donating grants to enable increased use of existing community facilities is core to our Trust, so the Trustees were very pleased to support this project to increase sporting activities, especially for children.”
