Plans to re-open a second railway station in Stonehouse has moved a step closer.

Stroud MP Siobhan Baillie announced the project had progressed through to the next round of funding for the #RestoringYourRailway programme.

The MP said: “Reopening the station has been a 20+ year campaign for so many people so I am thrilled to have secured some buy in from HM Government for the project.”

“It means we get a pot of funding to assist with the formal feasibility work and support from experts in the Department for Transport to move forward with the application.”

“Thank you and well done to Stonehouse Town Council, Stroud DC, Gloucestershire CC, the GFirstLEP and many others who have helped with this. I’ve also spoken to GWR and Network who were very helpful in explaining the realities of reopening stations in our area.”
