Stroud District Council has taken ownership of eight new affordable homes in Wotton-under-Edge.
The properties replace older council houses on a brownfield site at Gloucester Street and Bradley Street.
Built by Speller Metcalfe, the homes include a mix of two and three-bedroom properties available for affordable rent.
The development forms part of a £14.5 million programme to deliver 51 new homes across the district.
Councillors say the energy-efficient homes will help meet growing demand, with more than 3,000 households currently on the housing register.
