A major expansion in community healthcare provision has been announced by Allied Pharmacies Ltd, which has confirmed the acquisition of a further 68 pharmacies formerly operated by Jhoots Pharmacy.
The latest deal follows the successful acquisition of 61 Jhoots pharmacies earlier this year, bringing the total number of outlets added to the Allied Pharmacies network in 2025 to 129. The move represents a significant investment in the long-term sustainability of community pharmacy services across England and Wales, including several sites serving patients in Gloucestershire.
One of the newly acquired locations is based at the Severnvale Surgery site in Quedgeley, Gloucester, alongside an additional pharmacy at the Abbotswood Centre in Brockworth. Both sites play an important role in delivering frontline healthcare services to local communities and are expected to be returned to full operational capacity as a priority.
Allied Pharmacies said the expansion comes at a time of continued structural pressure within the pharmacy sector, with rising costs and funding constraints placing strain on many providers. The company stated that it aims to act as a stabilising force by investing in sustainable models of care, consolidating resources and expertise to ensure reliable access to essential medicines and clinical services.
In a statement, Allied Pharmacies emphasised its commitment to patient care and community links, noting that the enlarged network will strengthen its ability to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical services nationwide while maintaining a strong local presence.
The company also paid tribute to former Jhoots employees, acknowledging their “commitment and resilience” during what has been a challenging period. Allied Pharmacies confirmed that staff affected by the latest acquisition will receive the same level of consideration and support as those involved in the earlier transaction this year.
As the integration process continues, Allied Pharmacies said its immediate focus remains on safeguarding patient care, ensuring continuity of services, and working closely with local healthcare partners to meet community needs.
