Police are appealing for the owner of a dog to come forward after the animal bit the arm of a man in Gloucester last week.
Officers received a report that a dog had attacked a man on Metz Way, close to Coney Hill Rugby Club, Gloucester, at around midday on Tuesday 1 April.
The man was bitten on the arm, causing a puncture wound as well as significant swelling and bruising which needed medical attention at hospital.
The dog was being walked on a lead by two women at the time of attack, and although one of them did speak to the man to apologise, they did not pass on any details.
One of the women is described as being older, with short grey hair, while the other was believed to be in her mid-20s, with black hair and of a slim build.
The dog was black and white and the size of a Labrador.
Officers would now like to trace the two women and are appealing for them to come forward so they can speak to them about the incident.
They would also like to talk to anyone who witnessed it.
