An 81-year-old woman has sadly died after being involved in a serious road traffic collision in Moreton Valence.
The incident happened at around 11.50am today, rx where a woman was hit by a car, a Suzuki Swift, as she was crossing the A38.
An air ambulance attended to take her to hospital but she was pronounced deceased at around 12.30pm. Her next of kin have been informed.
A road closure is in place at Fromebridge roundabout and between Hill Top Garage and Eastington. Motorists are advised to avoid the area whilst officers carry out their investigations.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 154 of Thursday 14 April.
The driver of the car, a woman, has been arrested on suspicion of driving over the drug limit.
