CCTV released following distraction thefts


Police want to speak to this man in connection with a series of distraction thefts in which money has been stolen from shop tills.

The latest incident happened in Stonehouse at about 1.30pm last Friday, 1 June and was reported the following day.

A man entered a shop in High Street and told the assistant that his gran had left her red Versace coat there on a previous visit, and that he had been told by another member of staff that it was there waiting to be collected.

The assistant went to look for the coat and when she returned found that the man had gone and cash had been taken from the till.

The man is described as being white, mid to late twenties, 6ft 2ins tall with short ginger hair. He was wearing jeans, a dark top and glasses.

Similar incidents were reported in Gloucestershire in March and Bourton on the Water in February.
